Market Adventure¶
Open Assets/GC2StoryEngine/Examples/Adventure/Scenes/4_MarketAdventure.unity.
The market has lost power. People have their own concerns, useful objects are scattered around, and a guard stands between you and the way out. You can earn cooperation or work out a disguise.
This example combines story selection with simple dialogue, movement and item interactions. It uses Core and its bundled content packs, with no optional Dialogue or Inventory module.
Play¶
- Click open ground to move.
- Click a person or object to approach and interact.
- Collected items appear in the inventory on the right. Click an item, then a target, or drag the item onto the target.
- Right-click, press Escape, click the selected item again or click open ground to cancel item selection.
- Use Think for a contextual hint and Start again for a fresh attempt.
During dialogue, click or press Space or Enter to reveal the rest of the current page. Confirm again to advance or close it.
Things worth noticing¶
Try borrowing the repair kit with and without its owner watching. Return it to see how a complaint can be settled. Compare what the guard says during a blackout, while power is temporarily restored and after a proper repair.
The service cabinet's BYPASS switch is a deliberate risk. Inspecting the cabinet is safe; turning on the bypass can lead to a later fault. Isolate the cabinet and use the repair kit for a proper repair.
Two routes, if you would like a hint
For a cooperative route, speak to the repair-shop owner before taking the kit. Repair the isolated panel, return the kit to its owner and build the fruit seller's trust. Bring coffee to the guard and ask the seller to vouch for you.
For the disguise route, collect the coin, restore power and use the coin on CoffeeBot. Disturb the bird and collect the glasses it drops. Bring coffee and glasses to the guard, then try the upstairs exit.
Find the story content¶
| Scene group | What is inside |
|---|---|
01 Story / Adventure Rules |
The response logic |
02 Characters |
The courier, seven NPCs and their local memories |
03 Interactions |
World hotspots and the points characters approach |
| Groups 04 through 07 | Environment, cameras, UI and audio |
Categories divide requests such as hints, coffee, the guard and item use. Required criteria keep actions legal. Optional criteria choose a more fitting response among actions that are already safe.
Change a conversation¶
Leave Play Mode and select a Rule. Edit its Show Demo Dialogue instruction, displayed as Say in the instruction summary. Blank lines divide the text into pages. Another Line Follows controls the continuation cue.
Keep the conditions in mind as you rewrite. A character's knowledge may differ from the shared world state. The owner cannot react to a theft they never witnessed unless another event gives them that knowledge.
Extend the scene¶
Add one new inspection response before adding a whole route. Check it before and after the relevant story fact changes, then try repeated interactions and Start again.
If you move a hotspot, keep its approach point on the navigation surface. Rebuild navigation after relocating static obstacles. Those are scene-authoring concerns rather than Rule-selection settings.
